Van Avermaet outsprints Sagan to win GP Montreal

Greg Van Avermaet (BMC) claimed the victory in the GP Montreal, reversing the result of two days earlier in Quebec and getting the better of world champion Peter Sagan (Tinkoff). Diego Ulissi of Italy was third in the more than five-hour race up and down Mount Royal in the centre of the city.

Several riders attacked on the final lap, including a long atempt from Rui Costa, but the chasing group caught him for the final sprint and Van Avermat came out on top.

Sagan was coming off a win Friday at the Grand Prix in Quebec City, where Van Avermaet finished second.
